The University of Arizona is smoke- and tobacco-free effective August 25, 2014. This policy applies to University students, faculty, employees, contractors, volunteers, and visitors on its campuses and in its vehicles. It prohibits the use of any products that contain tobacco or nicotine, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, electronic smoking devices, bidis, kreteks, hookahs, water pipes, and all forms of smokeless tobacco.

Policy Change Effective February 21, 2017

At the time the original Smoking and Tobacco Policy was under review in August 2014, there was extensive discussion and concern from campus constituents regarding the proposed ban on e-cigarettes and other electronic smoking devices on campus. A task force of University stakeholders convened to research this issue further. Following the task force's recommendation, the University no longer permits use of electronic smoking devices on its property. The task force's summary and recommendations are linked below.
